PILLARS OF CULTURES

FROM IMAGE TO SCRIPT

Cultural institutions are a vital foundation of any society. In modern Serbia, the development of institutions dedicated to culture began in the early 19th century.

Belgrade serves as the hub for the nation’s premier cultural and artistic institutions, including the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the National Library of Serbia, the National Museum, the National Theatre, and the University of Arts.

LIBRARIES

In Belgrade, there is a large number of libraries with their branches, including several private libraries. The most notable ones include the National Library of Serbia, the Belgrade City Library, and the University Library "Svetozar Marković".

MUSEUMS

The museums in Belgrade preserve the material heritage from the Neolithic period to the present day. There are around 40 of them, and together with galleries, they offer insights into the cultural, artistic, historical, memorial, industrial-technical, and entertainment heritage of the city.
