PILLARS OF CULTURE

FROM IMAGE TO LETTER

Cultural institutions are a crucial foundation of any society. In modern Serbia, the development of cultural institutions began in the early 19th century.

Belgrade is the seat of the highest state and national cultural and artistic institutions: the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the National Library of Serbia, the National Museum, the National Theatre, and the University of Arts.

LIBRARIES

In Belgrade, there is a large number of libraries with their branches, including several private libraries. The most notable ones include the National Library of Serbia, the Belgrade City Library, and the University Library "Svetozar Marković".

MUSEUMS

The museums in Belgrade preserve the material heritage from the Neolithic period to the present day. There are around 40 of them, and together with galleries, they offer insights into the cultural, artistic, historical, memorial, industrial-technical, and entertainment heritage of the city.
