STREET ART

ALTERNATIVE SCENE

Street art emerged in Belgrade in the 1980s, and since then, it has been continually expanding. Belgrade has become a hub for a vibrant and diverse culture of graffiti, stencils, murals, stickers, and other artistic interventions in public spaces. The city stands out in Europe as a center of massive and impactful activities by street artists.

The Belgrade scene has developed so much in recent years that in 2021, 3D models of graffiti and murals were installed, aiming to make street art more accessible to blind and visually impaired individuals.

Various artistic groups and numerous street artists contribute to the diversity of street art in the city.

MURALS

The first murals in Belgrade emerged in the 1980s. The movement began with the painting of facades, and some of the murals were created by leading artists of that era.

GRAFFITI ART

The evolution of graffiti art began in the 1990s. Today, a large number of graffiti artists operate in Belgrade. We have spoken with some of them about their work.
