The mosaic by Branko Miljuš

  • by

The mosaic by Branko Miljuš, placed on the Terazije wall above the underground passage, was created for the IX Non-Aligned Movement Summit held from September 4–7, 1989.

This mosaic is part of the Yugoslav gift gallery created for the Non-Aligned Summit. The murals, which were gifts from across Yugoslavia, reflected the regions they came from, with the hope that Belgrade would remain “Yugoslavia in miniature.”

A lesser-known anecdote reveals that Branko Miljuš incorporated the symbol of the Lufthansa airline, the crane, into the mosaic. In return, the airline provided him with tickets for a trip to the Far East.
