class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div dir=\"auto\">The building in 16 Jevrejska Street was erected in 1923 as work of architect Samuel Sumbul. Until 1941, the home of the Sephardic Jewish Society- Oneg Shabbat was the gathering place of the Dor\u0107ol Jews.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It housed a home for the elderly and the premises of a youth club, as well as a hall for performing religious rites. In the period from 1993. to 2018., the building was taken care by B92 radio and fund, as well as the Rex cultural centre.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The building was returned to the Jewish Community under the law on the elimination of the consequences of confiscation of property of Holocaust victims who have no living legal heirs, which was adopted in 2016.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In 2017, by the decision of Assembly of the Jewish Community of Belgrade, a Jewish Culural Center was established in the Oneg Shabbat building.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The building was constructed as a two- storey building in a decorative eclectic (mixed) style.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">There were two inscriptions on the facade that indicated the purpose:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\"Oneg Shabbat\", \"Gemilut Hasadim\" and the inscription that stands out today,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\"Don't dismiss me before old age when strength betrays me, don't leave me\"<em> (Ps.71).<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-7701-2-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-7701-2-1-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_media_image panel-first-child\" data-index=\"4\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1672\" src=\"https:\/\/beotura.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_9477-scaled.jpg\" class=\"image wp-image-12809  attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"ONEG SHABBAT-JEWISH CULTURAL CENTER\" style=\"max-width: 100%; Samuel Sumbul.<br \/>\nThe building was erected as a two-storey building in a decorative eclectic (mixed) style.<br \/>\nAfter renovation during 2020-21. the building has finally been renovated, so the central part of the interior is intended for a ceremonial hall with a stage and an auditorium.
