The protests on October 5, 2000, in Belgrade marked the end of Slobodan Milo\u0161evi\u0107's regime. They followed the presidential elections in which opposition candidate Vojislav Ko\u0161tunica emerged victorious, but the results were disputed by the official authorities.<\/p>\n

Supporters of opposition parties, united under the DOS coalition, arrived in Belgrade on October 5 from across Serbia. During a rally in front of the Parliament building, they attempted to enter the premises. Clashes with the police ensued, eventually spreading to the area in front of the RTS building. Following the turmoil, regular RTS programming ceased after 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

The next day, on October 6, Slobodan Milo\u0161evi\u0107 officially conceded defeat in the presidential elections, bringing his rule to an end and establishing a democratic government led by the newly elected president, Vojislav Ko\u0161tunica.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
